Tencent has open-sourced Hy-SimulMT, a real-time Chinese-to-English and English-to-Chinese simultaneous translation model from Tencent HY. The company says the model runs at low latency of about 3 seconds while keeping high accuracy, and it supports real-time voice cloning. Tencent claims Hy-SimulMT outperforms most open-source models and commercial APIs, though it does not name the models or APIs it was compared against. The weights are available for download on Hugging Face, ModelScope and GitHub, and Tencent is inviting developers to try and build with it.
