GitHub is consolidating its Teams integration into a new GitHub app that combines notifications with Copilot, so teams can turn issues into fixes without leaving a conversation. Users get notified in channels, group chats or private chats, then mention @GitHub to have it investigate an issue, fix the bug and open a pull request for the team to review, test and merge. The app was previously called GitHub notifications, and existing installations keep their notification capabilities if they update to the latest version. The legacy GitHub app is being renamed "GitHub (deprecated)" and retired on November 16; anyone still using it must install the consolidated app to keep using Copilot in Teams. In the new app, users mention @GitHub and follow prompts to connect their GitHub account and pick a repository.
