Google Cloud is adding OpenAI's newest models to its Model Garden in private preview for select enterprise customers, making it the only hyperscale cloud provider to offer all three leading closed-source LLMs alongside more than 200 first-party, third-party, and open models. The initial lineup covers three tiers: GPT-6 Astra for demanding coding, computer-use, professional, and scientific research tasks; GPT-6.1 Sol, positioned near Astra in intelligence at a lower cost for agentic coding and professional work; and GPT-6 Luna for fast, cost-efficient everyday workloads at scale. Customers can select or swap models for each use case through Model Garden. OpenAI usage is purchased directly through Google Cloud Marketplace, with charges appearing on the same Google Cloud invoice, applying toward existing cloud commitments, and counting toward Flexible Savings Plans across model providers. Google is pairing that access with its enterprise governance layer: prompts, context, and outputs remain inside the customer's designated data perimeter and are not used to train foundation models, with Zero Data Retention options coming soon. OpenAI models run on dedicated Google Cloud infrastructure through isolated gateways, with Confidential Compute also planned, and authenticated identities, VPC Service Controls, unified audit logs, and administrator visibility apply across model and agent activity. Participants can begin using the models through APIs and connect local Codex CLI and Desktop workflows to Google's Gemini platform for inference, with access available through an interest form and more customers expected later.
