Databricks has added OpenAI's GPT-5.5 to its platform, letting enterprise customers run the frontier model on their own data with governance from day one. Databricks says GPT-5.5 is OpenAI's strongest frontier model for agentic enterprise work, complex document reasoning, and long-horizon coding agents. Unity AI Gateway governs both GPT-5.5 model inference and Codex coding workflows through a single control plane. That layer adds per-user and per-group permissions and rate limits, guardrails that detect PII and block prompt injection, MCP governance, automatic failover, and observability. Every request is logged with identity, tokens, latency, and cost in Delta tables the customer owns, and customers get one consolidated bill. GPT-5.5 is available now on Databricks across AWS, Azure, and GCP, and Codex can be deployed through Unity AI Gateway.
