GitHub has deprecated a set of Copilot models across most experiences as of October 19, 2026, after announcing the move on September 18, 2026, and asks users to update workflows and integrations to supported models. The deprecations reach Copilot Chat, inline edits, ask and agent modes, and code completions. Copilot Enterprise administrators may need to enable access to alternative models through their model policies in Copilot settings. Administrators can verify availability by checking individual Copilot settings and confirming the policy is enabled for a specific model; once enabled, the model appears in the Copilot Chat model selector in VS Code and on github.com. GitHub says no action is required to remove the deprecated models. Enterprise customers with questions are encouraged to contact their account manager.
