Vercel announced it will move the Turbopack bundler source code from the vercel/turbo repository into the vercel/next.js monorepo to accelerate development and achieve a stable release with production build support. The migration will use git-subtree and git-filter-branch to preserve commit history. Turborepo remains in its current repository, and Turbopack's core remains framework-agnostic despite the immediate focus on Next.js.

## Evidence

Verbatim from https://vercel.com/blog/turbopack-moving-homes:

> In the coming weeks, we will move the source code for the Turbopack bundler out of the vercel/turbo repository and into the vercel/next.js monorepo . We believe that co-locating the source code will enable us to iterate faster and get Turbopack to a stable release with support for production builds sooner, both in Next.js and as a standalone bundler for the rest of the JavaScript ecosystem.
