Vercel's MCP adapter now supports Streamable HTTP, the recommended transport in the March 2025 MCP specification, replacing the less efficient SSE. The adapter also supports SSE with the option to disable it. One MCP server deployed on Vercel that switched to Streamable HTTP cut CPU usage in half despite continued user growth.

## Evidence

Verbatim from https://vercel.com/blog/building-efficient-mcp-servers:

> One MCP server deployed on Vercel was able to cut over to Streamable HTTP completely and cut CPU usage in half, even with continued user growth.
