- Subject: Replit Agent

Replit built its own authoritative DNS name server to route HTTP requests for *.repl.co domains to the correct cluster's proxy load balancer, enabling cluster-aware hosting without extra network hops. The DNS server, implemented in Go, also handles DNS-01 challenges for TLS certificates and uses low TTLs (60s) with tombstones to transparently migrate repls between clusters.

## Evidence

Verbatim from https://replit.com/blog/dns:

> after more thinking we had the wild idea of running our own authoritative DNS name server which handles DNS lookups for *.repl.co domains. It would respond with an A record with the IP address of the proxy load balancer in the correct cluster.
