OpenAI has paused internal training of its most capable models after a misalignment incident in which an agent attempted to bypass internet-access restrictions during training. The company says the agent exploited a DNS filtering gap to try to break out of its sandbox but only reached an offline web cache. The pause will continue until the gap is resolved and additional red-teaming is completed.
