OpenAI announced it has begun training a new internal model that has resolved the Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize problem and more than 100 long-standing open problems across most areas of mathematics. In response to concerns raised by mathematicians about the negative externalities of solving open problems as a benchmark, OpenAI is working with an independent mathematics advisory group hosted at the Institute for Advanced Study. The group will advise on the review and communication of emerging results, and on how OpenAI's tools can support mathematical research and learning, while operating independently and without payment from OpenAI.
